Construction of the Woolworth Building in New York City
These ten photographs from Photographic views of the construction of the Woolworth Building, 233 Broadway, New York City, taken by New York photographer, Irving Underhill, document the construction of the Woolworth Building, one of New York's first skyscrapers. At the time of its completion in 1913, the Woolworth Building was actually the tallest in the world.

In addition to capturing the progress of the construction of this landmarked building and revealing otherwise hidden architectural features, these photographs are rich with details of early twentieth century life in New York City.

This collection of photographs is one of many at the Irma and Paul Milstein Division of United States History, Local History & Genealogy in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on 42nd Street.
