27th IBCT Soldiers Cheer for Giants

CAMP SHELBY, Miss. – Soldiers from the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard, took a short break from training for an overseas deployment with First Army Division East to watch Super Bowl XLVI at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center. Soldiers were able to cheer for the New York Giants in either one of the six unit day rooms, the unit Tactical Operations Center or the Camp Shelby Post Theater, provided by the CSJFTC Morale, Welfare and Recreation department.
Soldiers from the 27th IBCT, many of whom are Giants fans, erupted in cheers as their team took home the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy and the title of Super Bowl XLVI Champions. The New York Giants conquered the New England Patriots with a final score of 21 to 17.

The New York Army National Guard unit is preparing to deploy overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The battalion’s units are based in Buffalo, Utica and Syracuse, New York.
The 158th Infantry Brigade, First Army Division East, is currently providing training and validation for the 27th IBCT. The unit will receive up-to-date training based on current mission requirements from combatant commanders in theater. First Army Division East, which has eight brigades located across the eastern United States and its territories, mobilizes, trains, validates and deploys Reserve Component units at Camp Shelby to support overseas military operations.
