Rainbow gathering

    Newer Older

On Rainbow gatherings there is important Indian tradition of talking stick. This is a way of discussing problems in a circle , around the fire, when a special stick is passed and a person has right to speak only when holding it in hand. It helps to avoid violent quarrel, plus, when it takes some time before your turn comes, you might give up some stupid idea or saying something you would regret later.
This is just one of examples how traditional cultures deal with this problem, another can be toguna in Mali, a hut with low roof against which hot oponents hit their heads if they try to rise during animated discussion.
