Cats in Repose
The New York City Department of Transportation’s Art Program and New York Cares organized two Barrier Beautification painting events in conjunction with New York Cares Day of Service on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Along 781 feet of concrete barrier on East 161st Street between Gerard Avenue and Concourse Village West in the Bronx, 20 NY Cares volunteers assisted Sarah Nicole Phillips with painting “Cats in Repose,” a design that was inspired by the artists own black cat lounging and napping in various positions. The design is a reminder to slow down in the hustle of the city.

In addition to NY Cares, the Midtown Community Court assisted the DOT Art Program with priming the concrete barriers before the NY Cares Day of Service.
