Essaouira, Morocco 2

This is a wall of the 18th century coastal town of Essaouira. Although a series of forts were built here in the 15th century onwards, it was only in the 1760s that the town was established and the present circuit walls constructed.

Originally intended as a military port, nowadays the town survives as a fishing port, market town and tourist attraction.
