Made of Stone

The very cool Lomis hirta (hairy stone crab) found around Clydes Island, Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania. Love the way the limbs all slot together to make an almost smooth surface. The wikipedia entry is rather interesting for this species. Although it's related to the Porcelin Crabs (note: it only has three pairs of legs) it sits in it's own family and it's exact relationship is still debated. New word for the day carcinisation. Hmmmm.
