Les Bachelor with water control structure

TURNER, Oregon - Landowner Dave Budeau worked with the NRCS and other conservation partners to secure a permanent easement to protect wetland habitat on his property. The pond is home to Oregon chub, a minnow-sized fish unique to the Willamette Valley. In 2015, the Oregon chub became the first fish in U.S. history to be removed from the Endangered Species List due to recovery.

The water control structure pictured is used to safely lower the pond levels.
