Ashland Forest All Lands Restoration - Mustard Family Forest

Crew members with the Lomakatsi Restoration Project assemble slash piles using excess tree materials that were removed during a pre-commercial thinning project on the Mustard family forest. These piles will later be burned when weather conditions are safe to do so.

ASHLAND, Ore. -- The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service is joining forces with partners and landowners in Oregon’s Ashland watershed to reduce wildfire risk and strengthen forest resiliency, through the Ashland Forest All Lands Restoration. With financial incentives from NRCS, Shane and Amanda Mustard hired forest technicians with Lomakatsi to perform pre-commercial thinning and slash piling on their forestland to reduce the amount of ladder fuels that can cause a catastrophic wildfire.
