Fire Island Breach - Hurricane Sandy

PHYSICAL MONITORING OF THE FIRE ISLAND BREACH

Since the establishment of the breach on Fire Island NS as a result of Hurricane Sandy, the National Park Service has provided financial support to Stony Brook University to study the physical characteristics of the breach. This project includes monitoring bathymetry within the breach, breach stability, aerial photograph analysis of breach position, and water levels in Great South Bay.
