The "From Theory to Practice: Accessing and Preserving Electronic Records and Digital Materials" Electronic Records Conference was held November 3-4, 2011 at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh, NC. The conference was open to anyone who creates and manages electronic media including archivists and records managers, IT and information professionals, city and county managers, librarians, agency counsels, cultural repository managers, policy makers, county clerks, tax assessors, court officials and social media coordinators. Topics included building a digital repository, file formats and content standards, planning for storage and preservation, legal and economic considerations, and collaboration and partnerships. Two simultaneous tracks were targeted to government agencies and cultural repositories. "From Theory to Practice" was sponsored by the North Carolina State Historical Records Advisory Board (SHRAB) and the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources State Archives.
