A 19th century representation of the medieval symbol of the Holy Trinity. Pater ('father'), Filius ('son'), Spiritus ('spirit') and Deus ('God'). The lines linking the outher symbols read non est ('is not'), but the lines linking to the middle read est ('is').

The church is by Bodley, 1882. It has subsumed neighbouring parishes, and is consequently now probably the longest church dedication in England.

Interesting to see the Trinity motif actually spelt out.

Thanks, of course Sedgeford is always locked. This is virtually the sum total of my latin knowledge, having led the back row resistance of the other boys during classes, you know the type.

There is no reason for it to be kept locked, of course, but there is a keyholder notice (or, at least, was on my visits) and they were very polite and appropriately embarassed. A strange place inside, unlike anywhere else in that area. Feels very old....
