St John, Ilketshall St John, Suffolk

A lonely church in a wild graveyard on the outskirts of Bungay. The curiosity of the interior is that the crocketted canopy of honour to the rood survives.

St John is one of the Saints, a group of 12 remote and traditionally lawless parishes near to the Norfolk border. Each village is named after a Saint: eight are styled 'South Elmham', four are 'Ilketshall'.
