last visit to his friend
The boy on the left had entered the house with natural and ease, greeting everyone and answering various questions from all the generations ; he took the baby in his arms and sat on the sofa - he was there to say bye bye to his friend, returning back to Istanbul at the end of the school holidays.
He was already one day late, his school was opening that very day (mid Sept.) but given the holiday diaspora, with so many children returning to their ancestral villages often far away for the long summer holidays, I don't think that the teachers were very strict the first days of schooling.
In the comment, 2 photos showing how the old houses have adapted to modern times. This house has fortunately kept its old appearance outside ; the father of the boy on the right is a carpenter remaining here and he has plenty of renovation work to do in the area.
