You'd think that omnipresent media would lead to a global homogenization of culture, but thankfully, it has not. Customs still differ from one place to another. And I'm glad they do. The world would be significantly less interesting if life was led the same way all over the world.


One custom I noticed in Shanghai, is the tendency of women to walk arm-in-arm. Its something I've rarely if ever seen in the States.


This trio was crossing the street near West Nanjing Road, arms interlocked, walking into the future.
