"This is the place where they landed the turf brought across Loughros Beg Bay by boat to Loughros Point. Some of the houses they lived in are still standing, now used as byres or stores. On the South side of the bay there was a cable system for running the turf down the mountain to the shore. There is somewhere a picture taken looking the other way of creels of turf being carried on the strand."
