Lansdowne - Joshimath - The Home of The Garhwal Rifles and Garhwal Scouts
Lansdowne is the hill station named after the Viceroy of India at that time, Lord Lansdowne. The Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre has been here since 1887. Joshimath in the inner Himalayas is the home of the GARHWAL SCOUTS based near the Indo-Tibet border guarding the passes and the old Tibetan trading routes.
