Quite a hot day today! What better antidote than rush to the beach. ''Thalatta! Thalatta!'' The shout of joy after seeing the sea from the top of a sand dune. Like one of the 10,000 climbing mount Theches….
Nevgati or Evgati beach, Lemnos island, Greece
Thalatta! Thalatta! (Greek : Θάλαττα! Θάλαττα! Or Θάλασσα! Θάλασσα!) – The Sea! The Sea!) was the shouting of joy when the roaming 10,000 Greeks saw Euxeinos Pontos from Mount Theches (Θήχης) in Trebizond (Τραπεζούντα) after participating in Cyrus the Younger΄s march against the Persian Empire in the year 401 BC. The mountain was only a five day march away from the friendly coastal city Trapezus. The story is told by Xenophon in his Anabasis (Source, Wikipedia).
