Juvenile Anna's Hummingbird 7

This juvenile hummingbird is not yet wary of people. We could approach within 3- to 4-feet for good macro photos. Based on emerging coloration, I believe this is a juvenile male. When an adult hummingbird would fly close, he would fluff his feathers and verbally beg for food, which indicates that he was barely out of the nest.

Photographed at the Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary, Modjeska Canyon, California.

Nikon D5000 at ISO 400 with Nikkor 105-mm macro lens, 1/60-sec at f/11, Nikon SB-600 flash unit with O-Flash 3/4-circle Fresnel prism attachment, synced for daylight exposure.
