My great great grandfather, William Ranson Morris, was in the Army of the Confederate States of America. He was a member of Company 'H' of the 17th Regiment of the South Carolina Infantry. He is pictured with my great great grandmother, Ellen Barker Morris, whose grandfather was William Barker, a member of the 5th South Carolina Regiment of the Continental Regulars during the American Revolution. He was later a captain during the War of 1812. For his service, Barker was pensioned a large tract of land in Orangeburg District, South Carolina. I own this original pastel portrait that was made from a photograph. It is approximately 20"X12".
