Amsterdam Centraal Station Bus Terminal MercedesBenze 338

Mercedes-Benze bendy bus of the GVB (Gemeentelijk Vervoerbedrijf).

Picture taken at the west stand outside Amsterdam Centraal.

I had never taken any interest in buses until recently, basically if it did not run on two steel rails I did not consider it real engineering so rather disregarded it, but since seeing Michael's Bus Drawings 'MBD' on Flickr at I have changed my view a bit. Now when I am out and about I am taking picture of buses and really beginning to see that they are not just homogenous rectangles but in fact have some considerable technology to them, including;

CO2 and particulate management systems

Transponder tracking

Data up/down links

Low emission engines, inc LPG fuels, BAttery systems, Overhead Electric and now even electromagnetic induction drives.

So next time you see a bus, take a second look, and then go and look at Michael's Bus Drawings 'MBD' Flickr page !
