Bay Bridge Evening

I took this one in early 2010, but never managed to post it on flickr. Well here it is, simply because it's one of the best photos I've managed to take in 2010. I currently have a 24x16 print of this hanging in the wall of my bedroom and man does it look nice. I've since moved on from the camera that took this photo, the trusty D90. It served me well for two full years and took many great photos including this one.

In the months leading up to my decision to replace my D90, I kept weighing the options of buying all different sorts of equipment. From lenses to flashes, to camera bodies, I was in constant search of information about camera equipment. I couldn't hide the fact that all that effort was to try and achieve better looking photos. Well, here's the thing to learn from the photo you see above. It doesn't take a $5000 rig to achieve great looking photos. It's never about the equipment. It's always about the photographer. Get out there and shoot and have fun at it. Even I'm still learning to do this every time I pick up my camera. We're all students of photography because we're all students of life itself.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Excellent work, Kyle. Wonderful detail of SF, and it looks like an amazingly clear evening.

Where did you shoot this from? It's obviously in Oakland somewhere, but was it from the top a building, or is there some open area to set up a tripod and shoot?!

    Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

It was taken on Yerba Buena island. More specifically, Treasure Island Road. Happy Holidays to you too!
