To the Batmobile!!
89-Bat is Australia’s only registered Batmobile.
It’s owned by Zac Mihaljovic & it took him 2yrs and he told me it cost a staggering $500,000 to build it.
He’s already had offers of over $1,000,000 dollars for the beast.
The 6.2 metre Batmobile is put together from various parts with about 30% from the ’89 Batmobile used in the Hollywood film.
Zac tracked the parts down online - some of which had been sold at auctions
Zac’s grandfather is a automotive engineer so he was responsible for building the Batmobile.
Also Zac’s mothers partner was a motorcycle builder and he was heavily involved.
The Batmobile is made from fibreglass, aluminium and has a steel chassis.
Underneath the mouldings is parts of a LS Corvette Stingray but has been highly modified.
It has a 6-speed auto transmission.
The engine is a worked V8 engine that does 0-100kph in 4.5secs.
It has a working afterburner and an operating front turbine.
The engine sounds pretty damn good and its an amazing looking car!
The Batmobile is hired out for use & Zac also uses it quite a lot for charity events inc. Make a Wish Foundation.
I met Zac & his Batmobile while getting petrol on Elizabeth Drive and the car quickly became the centre of attention.
Cars pulled over, everyone was asking Zac questions, taking photos and shooting videos.
Zac reckons that happens everywhere he goes, even had choppers following him & filming the car.
Its been featured on a few TV shows as well.
