Kings Tableland & The Milky Way.
Kings Tableland, Wentworth Falls,
Blue Mountains National Park,
6 shot pano in portrait mode stitched in PTGui Pro.
I planned some astro photography on the plateaus around Wentworth Falls.
I spent some time using Google Earth & TPE to scope some potentially interesting sites.
Always scouting locations that could provide a good foreground to compliment the Milky Way & stars.
I noted a few potential spots and headed out in the Subaru after sunset.
Ideally, it would’ve been preferable to check these out during the daytime, but I don’t mind some scrambling around in the dark with a headtorch.
It was a pretty cold night, so I got rugged up in some warm gear.
I ended up finding a few decent spots to take some photographs of the night sky.
Probably ended up covering more than 5kms of territory on foot in the dark.
Was pretty chuffed to finally found a site that I’d been searching for quite some time.
The location was some weathered almost primordial-looking rocks, at the edge of the escarpment, overlooking a cavernous valley.
This spot was about 1km walk from the Aviation Tower on Kings Tableland.
Got home in the early hours of the morning feeling pretty satisfied with the night’s photography.
