The first thing I did when I returned from Vietnam some years ago was to join an organization called "Vietnam Veterans Against the War." Although I had served in Vietnam for a year in the infantry, many folks told me they thought I was being "disloyal." I am still very proud of my membership in V.V.A.W.

      Snake,
You are both a true citizen and inspiration. Thank you for what you have done and continue to do. You have more patriotism in your little finger than those occupying the Oval Office. Thank you for your service to humanity and your dedication and love of all forms of life on this earth.

I hope that all who read your comment are as moved as I am.

      Greg

Let's all just continue to work for peace so that all living things can live their own lives with their own problems and potentials. It will take a lot of work...

Would you add a small version and any others you may have to this discussion in Surviving? It would be great to gather them all in one place.

I admire Viet and Iraq Vets for Peace above all for their courage to speak out and to speak from intense first hand knowledge

I am a Iraq War Veteran, who is strongly opposed to the illegal conflicts and occupation in both Iraq and Afghanistan!!! Neither Iraqi nor Afghan people had anything to do with the FALSE FLAG terror attacks of the World Trade Center ( the twin towers and bldg #7-which was not hit by a plane) and the Pentagon on 9/11!!! Saddam neither had WMDs in his country nor ties with Bin Laden's Al-Qaeda
organization!!! The truth is 9/11 was an INSIDE JOB designed to create to an empire overseas (the Persian Gulf, Caspian Sea)and to rob the American citizens of their civil liberties at home (Patriot Acts I, II, No-Fly lists) all in the name of fighting a so-called "war on terror". Also, we now have permanent military bases to guard the oil pipelines in both Iraq and Afghanistan as well as helping the illegal multibillion dollar drug trade (opium/heroin)!!! Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, and others of the administration lied and the troops and many Iraqi and Afghans have died as a result!!!! And it continues under Obama!!! But I'm glad I left the military after 8 years of active duty service (4yrs U.S. Air Force/4yrs U.S. Army). I wish I could have been at that protest!!!!!

      Quotes to remember:

In war, truth is the first casualty.
      - Aeschylus

      All warfare is deception.
      - Sun Tzu

      War is a racket.
      -General Smedley D. Butler

Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as PAWNS for foreign policy.
      -Henry Kissinger

Those who give up Liberty for Security will lose Both.
      -Ben Franklin

Dissent is the HIghest form of Patriotism.
      -Thomas Jefferson

So Sambo79, that Iraq War Vet is no traitor!!! Please read the Constitution and Bill of Rights, especially the one about the 1st Amendent!!!!

I was a member of the IVAW for more than a year, but recently they have come under fire for the bad behavior of some of their members, like Carl Webb, and as a whole the IVAW seems to be a borderline radical organization these days. Not something I want to be associated with.
