The Oldman on the Stairs
Portraits take a force of will to overcome the fear of taking someone's photos. It's intimate, it's personal, but you can usually tell if people are willing and the worst they can do is say no. I passed this gentleman walking up the hill to our dinner. He shook my hand warmly and mumbled something in Tibetan. After seeing dinner would take a few moments I decided to walk back down the hill and take his photo. He was more than glad to sit and smile through that wizened face that has seen many years.
