Pouring a bell
One of the highlights of our busy day today was getting to see a bronze pour at U.S. Bells, a small bronze foundry right near the Oceanside Meadows Inn. The folks at the foundry were very cool, and Sue got to geek out with them about metal casting, which was tons of fun.
It turns out that they have quite the family art commune there, with woodworking, quilting, photography, and pottery all happening alongside the metalwork. The potter (Liza Fisher) also showed us her very cool wood fired kiln, but I got wrapped up in our conversation and didn't take any pictures of that :-(.
We bought a nice pair of "wind chime-y" bells to mount by the front door when we get home as a moment and birthday present for WeatherGrrrl, along with a few pieces of pottery.
