On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) recognized American policymakers and influencers who are working to empower and advance the Latino community, and advocating for telecommunications policies that protect people of color.

The honorees were:

U.S. Senator Cory Booker - Outstanding Public Service

Senator Booker has dedicated his life to speaking on behalf of and building opportunities in forgotten communities, especially communities of color. He has been a leader among Senate colleagues on prison phone reform and a champion for an open internet.

U.S. Congressman Tony Cardenas - Outstanding Public Service

Congressman Cardenas represents California’s San Fernando Valley
and the American consumer at large. He has been an outspoken advocate for benefits of media diversity and a leader in Congress for responsible oversight of media consolidation.

Spiegel & McDiarmid LLP Team - Outstanding Advocates

Representing clients who generally have less money and resources
than their competitors in major industries on which society depends,
Spiegel is dedicated to improving the economic well-being
of the communitiesand members they serve.

Olivia Bae Wein - Outstanding Advocate
