Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A 1934 photograph of a tableau advertising the film 'My Old Dutch' shown at the New Westgate cinema Westgate Road Newcastle upon Tyne. The film was shown during the week commencing 26 November 1934. A man dressed as a pearly King is holding the reins of a pony and cart containing a pearly Queen and King. Behind the tableau is a stage on which part of a band or orchestra is sitting. To the right in the background is a group of men and women in evening dress. The 'New Westgate' cinema (1927-1937) was formerly known as 'The Picture House' (1912-1914) then the 'Westgate Road Picture House' (1914-1927). Its name was later changed to the 'Westgate' (1937-1950) and finally to the 'Gaumont' (1950-1958).
