For Me, For You, For Later--PNC Grow Up Great April 13, 2011
The PNC Foundation has awarded a $300,000 grant to the Newark Public Library for a program that will teach city children lessons in spending, saving and sharing and equips parents to reinforce the lessons at home. The award is part of For Me, for You, for Later: First Steps to Spending, Sharing, and Saving, an initiative of PNC Grow Up Great, a 10-year, $100 million program to improve early childhood education. Sesame Workshop, through a continuing partnership with PNC, has created bilingual materials for financial education instruction to children between the ages of 3 to 5. The grant was announced at a press conference at the Newark Public Library on Wednesday, April 13 attended by Jim Rohr, chairman and CEO of PNC; Gary Knell, president and CEO of Sesame Workshop; and special guests Elmo and Cookie Monster! Children from the Newark Preschool Council participated in the program.
