Caribbean Reef Shark

    Newer Older

My gills are drying out after a long time no Sea. So I went back through some images from last summer and found this one. It's growing on me.
    Shot with the 40D, Tokina 10-17mm at 10mm ISO 200 f/9.5, 1/125

great shot....how close was the fella from you? Not sure I'll be able to do the same if it approaches me.....no matter what my marine biologists friends told me about them being not harmful.... ;)

Thanks folks, Hi Bart, shot at 10mm with the Tokina 10-17mm so she was less than a meter from the dome. Amazingly they are so beautiful you really don't worry about them....

Wow very sharp! That must have been taken inches away with the 10mm.

Hi Bo, sometimes I'm just a little slow. It was hiding in with a few hundred I took that trip.

A long time ago I did some snorkeling in Florida, the Bahamas and Fiji. It would be great to shoot the underwater critters like you do.... but since it's such an expensive hobby for a Kansan, I'm glad to see the underwater marvels you post...

I'm happy you enjoy them John. But I've stopping thinking about what we do as a hobby. More like an intense, all consuming passion. I don't think you'd climb those mountains in the dark and freeze, waiting for the sun to come up so you get that golden light as a hobby. ;-)
