Purple loosestrife in mid-June

This picture was taken at Brookwood Farm on the Milton/Canton town border, on June 17, 2009. NepRWA Summer Intern Katina shows us, relative to her height (about 5 ft. 4"?), the height of Purple loosestrife plants (green plants in foreground). Note that Katina is surrounded by the taller stems of the previous season's flowering Purple loosestrife stalks. Learn more about this effort to control exotic, invasive Purple loosestrife plants and increase the diversity of native plant and wildlife species, at www.neponset.org.
