COPAN MAYAN HOWLER MONKEY GOD at the top of the COPAN REVIEWING STAND OF THE WEST COURT on the south side of COPAN TEMPLE 11 at the Copán Mayan Ruins in northern Honduras.
Crouched at the top of the north (left) and south (right) ends of the Reviewing Stand Stairway (which bears Mayan hieroglyphs) are two Mayan Howler Monkey Gods carved in stone. The west (left end of the Reviewing Stand) Howler Monkey God is shown in this 1984 profile view. He is holding aloft an IK Wind Glyph Rattle in his left hand as a Snake crawls out of the left side of his mouth and over his cheek.
