A giant, towering Chestnut Oak Quercus prinus with a diameter breast high (DBH) of more than 3 feet in the upper part of the south woods of The Wendelken Nature Preserve (1937 to 2009) a 4 acre paradise located within the city limits of Marietta, a diminutive town in Washington County in southeastern Ohio. The trunk of this gorgeous Chestnut Oak divides into two well above the ground and a huge Wild Grape Vine can be seen suspended from the upper branches. West Virginia (across the Ohio River) is visible from the upper parts of this venerable oak.
