Managed to sneak in an hour in the city on my way home tonight. Friday night is such a great time. Lots of people around that come out to play at the end of the week.
I was hanging around at the intersection of Swanston and Little Collins St’s and noticed two extraordinary looking women having a conversation with a fellow on the other side of the road. One a tall leggy blond and the other in a wowser orange top which caught my attention immediately.
I waited for a few minutes until they’d finished their chat and followed them up Little Collins St on a mission to take their portraits. I caught up and stopped to introduce myself & explained what I was doing with the camera.
They introduced themselves as Dash & D’Bree and explained they do window shopping tours around Melbourne amongst many other things. They both agreed to let me grab some shots, so I grabbed D’Bree first and made her stand out in the middle of the road and face me. That was never going to work on a Friday night as an impatient taxi driver soon arrived on the scene. So back up onto the footpath and I fired away a few frames.
Then it was Dash’s turn down a little side alleyway and snapped away again. This was the second time out with the Contax Zeiss 50mm this week and I gotta say I’m loving this baby, now I’ve got the handle on the focus.
So this shot you see is actually Dash. I’ll post up D’Bree tomorrow. They have a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DashDBree where they describe themselves as Fab Funny Fashionistas.
I do know one thing – they were absolutely delightful to have met and had a conversation with. So thank you both. I do hope that we run into each other again one day. I’d love to do some more shooting.
