I thought I've seen all the good spots in Palos Verdes, CA
Some of the good folks on Google+ proved me wrong. We hiked down here and I was in shock to find this little gem...we hit this hole at the perfect time. The tide was low enough for the waves to come crashing all the way through. The sunset was in just the right spot to illuminate the inner hole. (yes that's right, I wrote Inner hole) and we still had enough ambient light to expose the foreground. No need for HDR or processing tricks here, just good, no perfect light. After taking this shot, I made my way to that rock closest to the hole. After setting up for 10 minutes, I was ready to release the shutter when it happened. I looked up and there was a wave in my face again. The camera was soaked and my boots full of water.
I think I'll go back with a wet suit and try to get in the cave...that could be cool.
This image made it all the way to #3 on 500px, I was pretty excited.
