The Rotunda and the Special Collections Library at the University of Virginia; and the Walking Street in downtown Charlottesville.
Thomas Jefferson modeled the Rotunda after the Pantheon in Rome. In 1895, the Jefferson-designed Rotunda burned to the ground. Only its charred circular brick walls were left standing. It was replaced with a Beaux Arts interpretation which was taken down during the Bicentennial of 1976, and Jefferson's original plan restored.
