06,06.11 Colvin Run Mill
On our 43th anniversary Cliff and I went to the mill in Great Falls, Virginia to hear the Mill Run Dulcimer Band celebrate the release of a new CD. I took some pictures of the scenery at Colvin Run Mill where the event was held.
Colvin Run Mill, built circa 1802-1811, was a water-powered gristmill located on the road connecting the farms in the Valley of Virginia to the port of Alexandria. The mill was in operation until 1934, selling to local and foreign markets. Today the grain that is ground at the mill is sold at the circa 1900 General Store on site.
