The annual crèche exhibit at at the National Cathedral in Washington is entitled "The First Noel". I made these images on 14 December 2005 at the Rare Book Library Exhibit Room and at the Cathedral's Gift Shop.

Each year the Cathedral exhibits a selection from its world-wide collection of crèches. The scenes depict the birth of Jesus in materials as varied as delicate ceramic, intricate needlepoint and rough corn husks from the Virginia Appalachians. Peru, Finland and the Dominican Republic were also represented.
