AEC 2015 prompts PH govt to urgently implement strategies in PDP

NEDA Deputy Director General Emmanuel F. Esguerra presented an overview of the country’s action plan for AEC 2015 during the high-level national policy dialogue and launching of the study on the “ASEAN Community 2015: Managing integration for better jobs and shared prosperity” yesterday at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City.

Esguerra emphasized the urgency of enhancing competitiveness, complying with commitments, promoting collaboration, and intensifying communication as the Philippines gears up for integration in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015. With or without the AEC, however, the Philippine government is working to address inclusivity and achieve higher growth, Esguerra said.

Also present during the dialogue/launching are Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, International Labor Organization (ILO) Philippines Country Director Lawrence Jeff Johnson, ILO Asia and the Pacific Chief of Regional Economic and Social Analysis Unit Sukti Dasgupta, Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) President Edgardo Lacson and Alliance of Progressive Labor-Sentro ng Progresibong Pagbabago Secretary General Josua Mata.
