NEDA Deputy Director-General congratulates Australia Awards scholars

Deputy Director-General Rolando G. Tungpalan congratulated more than 300 Filipino scholars, including NEDAns, who were conferred with Australia Awards in a recognition ceremony held at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila on May 28, 2014.

 

In his speech, DDG Tungpalan stressed the importance of investing in human development. He said that strengthening our institutions require investing in human capital and improving organizational effectiveness. He also expressed his optimism that the scholars will go beyond their respective service obligations and find fulfilment in the vast opportunities that have begun to unfold in the country, including the opportunities associated with the ASEAN Economic Community 2015.

 

The NEDA official also encouraged the scholars to help the government achieve the aspiration for a better quality of life for all Filipinos.

 

The event, with the theme “Australia-educated Filipinos, On Track for ASEAN Integration,”was also attended by Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Bill Twedell, Australian Minister Counselor Layton Pike, and Professional Regulation Commission Chairperson and Chair of the ASEAN Task Force on the ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework Atty. Teresita Manzala.
