Failed Spinal Fusion | Pseudoarthrosis of the Spine | Non-Union of the Spine | Vail Spine Specialist

This photo shows a pseudarthrosis of the spine--the arrows point to gaps in the vertebra that should have solid bone formation. A Pseudarthrosis of the spine means that there is a non-union of the bones. Essentially, this occurs when there is movement of the bone where a fracture once existed. During spinal fusion surgery, if the surgery fails, a pseudarthrosis may occur.

Dr. Donald Corenman, Vail, CO Orthopedic Spine Surgeon, has written countless articles and documents on spine and back pain. He is also the author of books relating to the spine and back.
