Fast Food - extreme edition

    Newer Older

We've recently put some flowers on our balcony, those invited this guy to an afternoon snack. To capture wings, flapping with extreme speed, I had to dial to shutter speeds, that I've never imagined I'll ever use. 6400th of a second, and finally we can see those wings. That is extremely fast for a drive-in.

That's a moth by the way, known as the Hummingbird Hawk-moth.

What fun! I tried photographing a relative (a hummingbird clearwing moth) recently at 1/8000 s, and there was STILL a trace of motion in one of the wings!
