Nebraska Zephyr unretires (at least for a weekend)

The Nebraska Zephyr scoots through Wataga,Illinois, nearly an hour late but so well worth it.

Placed in service in 1940, this is the only surviving EMD E5 locomotive and is owned by the Illinois Railway Museum. It carried passengers from Chicago to Galesburg to Quincy and back on September 22 and 23.

She hit 86 mph on this run, not bad for a 72 year old that doesn't get out much.
