2011 Youth Residency project | March 23-25, 2011
The NCMA Education Department and the NC Department of Public Instruction undertook a collaborative project as a result of a Character Education Initiative Grant awarded to NCDPI by the federal government.

Twenty-four high school students and teachers from throughout the state participated in a three-day Youth Residency project at the NCMA. The teens worked with visual artist Peg Gignoux and writer Susie Wilde to create a book designed to teach elementary and middle school students about important character traits.

The book created during the residency will be published and distributed to media centers in North Carolina elementary and middle schools next year.
