SAN DIEGO (Aug. 4, 2020) Ens. Kaitlyn Leibing, a staff nurse assigned to one of Naval Medical Center San Diego’s (NMCSD) internal medicine wards (right), helps Hospitalman Angela Mello, a general duty corpsman assigned to NMCSD (left), don personal protective equipment (PPE), including a 3D-printed face shield, donated to the hospital by Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, before entering a coronavirus (COVID-19)-positive, non-critical patient’s room Aug. 4. Face shields, N95 respirator masks, gloves and gowns are some of the PPE required to enter COVID-19-patient spaces.
