Yellowstone Black Bear

This was the first (large) wild animal we spotted after coming into the park. He was pretty close to the roadway, poking around in the tall grass looking for something to eat. When we first got there, there was only one photog out there (with his nice big white telephoto) standing with the rangers; by the time we stopped and I got out to take a photo or two (or several ;) there were three other vehicles stopped and more were coming. The rangers wouldn't let us get anywhere near the bear (obviously) so we all did our best trying to get a shot where we stood.

Then, the um... not-smart person you see in the background of this photo, decided to stop back there and everyone jumped out of the car to watch the bear. Regardless of the rangers' yelling and telling him not to stop there, not to get out, etc. he ignored them and stood in the middle of the road to get his photo. Unfortunately, this upset the bear to the point that he decided to cross the road and leave. Sadly, he had an injured foot, (the ranger didn't explain, but she apparently knew about it already) and so he had to limp across. I hope he makes it ok...
