While I'm gone!
Yep, I'm taking a break from Flickr for a bit. No, nothing's wrong. :) I just won't have access to my computer for a few days, and this Sunday I'm doing a Memory Walk in Seattle. I've chosen to do the walk in honor of Ginny. I never had the privilege to meet Ginny in life, but I came across Susan's set telling her story, and I literally spent the next 3-4 hours going through the entire thing first to last. By the time I reached the last photo, I had been touched so deeply... I felt like I knew Ginny. My eyes sting with tears just thinking of her and everything she and her family went through. Alzheimer's is a horrible disease, and I can't imagine how frightened I would be if I started losing my memories and my sense of who I was and where I fit in with everything. So when I found out about the walk, I just had to join up. Once I started telling people about it, they started telling me their stories, and I found out a lot more people have been and are affected by Alzheimer's and dementia than I'd have ever guessed! I've been meaning to do a photo dedicated solely to Ginny and the walk; but in the meantime, if you would like to contribute, I'm trying to raise $500 towards the effort to end Alzheimer's and provide care for those who are already afflicted. (My kids are walking with me, and they are each walking for someone too - Eithne's dad, William McGuinness, Gordon's mom, Irene Herd, and Bill's father-in-law...)
After that, I've got the kids' schooling during the day (for those who don't know, I'm a homeschool mom) and I'm hoping to spend more time with my husband in the evenings. I'm sure there will be nights he'll just want to unplug by playing Madden, and then I might get on and throw up some more photos... but in the meantime, I'm just going to spend time enjoying my family.
I'll pop back in now and then to check out my contacts' and friends' photos, go through my group's photo queues, and all; but for a little while I'm just pulling back a bit.
So take care, and I'll check ya laydah!
