CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – The heavy low sounds of 12,000 Volt transformers went hot Dec. 11 at the Replacement Naval Hospital Project orchestrated by Berg Electric. The hospital’s transformers were energized by power sources of San Diego Gas & Electric that will supply permanent power to the hospital.
The energizing of the transformers is a huge milestone for the hospital as it signifies the beginning of the transition to permanent power from temporary construction power. The linemen from Berg Electric wore level four 40 cal suits that protected the workers from any accidental discharges from power sources. Berg Electric utilized an IPad to verify plans, test reports for the energized portion of the transformers. Berg Electric plans to power the rest of the transformers in the next couple weeks.
