Part of the shibori material I made yesterday during my trip to Arimatsu. The dye is made from indigo leaves, and when you put the material in it simply looks like brown sludge. However, when the liquid oxidises it comes out this beautiful, rich intense blue colour. This particular pattern is called "spider web" shibori for an obvious reason. It's made by twisting string very tightly around a "horn" of material before the dyeing process.

I would love to have a go at this. Interesting and pretty effects. I like the effect of the macro- where you can see the actual grain of the material.
