    No smoke and no double exposure, I'd guess. But a long exposure and a moved torch of fire. Otherwise it would be quite astounding how precise the head is framed...

    I saw on this photo ,two man sitting side by side with intentionally space of composition prepared for where the spirit would appear.

    as a profesional in the area of spirits
    I would just like to note : this is not an authentic spirit , It is what was commonly used to promote the Idea of ghosts for profit in the 19th century .

    I will say ghosts , spirits , angels and demonds are real
    happy Hunting .

    An excellent example of the spirit photography held in such high regard by Victorian Spiritualists. But yes, it's probably faked! The ectoplasm (the spirit substance which issued from the medium's mouth) was no doubt added via double exposure or a similar method. But, as a modern day Spiritualist, I believe it was done with all good intentions to illustrate the continuity of existence after death.
